College Research Awards
The College Research Awards competition is among the most important activities in the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences. We are pleased to sponsor these awards as part of our effort to support and promote research and publication. These awards provide additional reassigned time to allow tenure-track and tenured faculty members the ability to focus on scholarly endeavors. Individual projects as well as collaborative projects are supported. The CRA provides a one, or two-course buyout, for the faculty recipient in the spring semester. Fixed-term faculty members are not eligible for the CRA.
A call for proposals is issued in January of each year. Proposals are submitted in one of three broad areas representing the disciplines in the college: natural sciences and mathematics, social sciences, and humanities. Three confidential panels composed of college faculty evaluate the proposals, and winners of the award are formally announced at the college convocation in August.
