SUMMER PROGRAM IN CORDOBA, ARGENTINA 2010
Are you interested in completing Intermediate Spanish (1003-1004) in just 7 weeks?
Are you interested in enjoying the best 7 weeks of your life immersed in the culture of Argentina?? Then, this program is calling YOU!
Session dates: May 11 – June 30
Number of credits: 6 (Span.1003 and 1004)
Prerequisites: Span 1002 (passed with a “C” or better), placement into 1003 or consent of the director.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you happen to fail Span 1003, you will be sent home immediately, no refund given and any airfare difference will be at your own expense.
Number of students allowed in the session: only 14
Total cost for the 7-week program, including international airfare (from Miami), home stay with 2 meals a day, weekend trips, plus ECU credits: $4004.
Payment schedule: $75 application fee (due at sign up); $200 due 1/29/10; $1865 due 2/26/10; $1864 due 3/31/10
Classes will be held on a daily basis, plus 25 hs. of conversation sessions.
The program will be carried out in Córdoba, provincial capital in the heart of the country. Second city in Argentina, Córdoba has a very rich history, architecture and beauty. Even though its population is over a million, it still has lovely small town flavor but with exciting attractions.
Included extra-curricular activities:
v City tour: Visit to points of interest, culminating with a luncheon.
v Tango dinner show and 2 tango classes
v 1 half-day outing: Several possibilities are available depending on the group’s interest (hiking, horse-back riding, museums).
v Saturday outing: Sailing in Lake San Roque followed by an “asado”
v Visit to “El paseo de las artes”: it’s a well-known spot where one can purchase very good hand-crafted souvenirs at reasonable prices.
v Cultural activity: Argentinean cinema or a theatrical or musical show.
v Weekly soccer games
Weekend Trip 1:La Cumbrecita- A beautiful small town nestled in the mountains in Cordoba province. Lots of hiking and outdoor activities and probably partake of a typical “asado” (the Argentinean version of great grilled beef).
Note: all fees, tickets, meals and transportation are included.
Weekend Trip 2: Mendoza -visit to wineries, city tour, tour to the Andes to view the Aconcagua (highest peak in the Americas). Cost of transportation, lodging and tours included
Weekend trip 3: Buenos Aires- The country’s capital!
Weekend trip 4: Bariloche – Amazing natural beauty in northern Patagonia, lakes region (Nahuel Huapi) and playground of skiers!
No meals covered on weekend trips 2, 3 and 4
