AREAS OF INTERESTDr. Fladenmuller specializes in the study of the modern novel with numerous contributions on the work of Proust. He is currently expanding his fields to include studies in comparative literature. A new book project deals with the concepts of "neuter" and "chaos" as they apply to modern, and in particular, postmodern narratives. He is also writing a new novel, a pseudo-autobiography with a central character by the name of "Chaos".

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY"For my lit classes: Respect the primacy of the original text. Where is the text? that's what is just in front of you right now. Reading should be a pleasurable activity not too distant from the pure enjoyment of a work of art. Judge a book by its letters and leave the paratext alone!
