Summer 2006. Participant Researcher in Pilot Study in Costa Rica with ECU faculty in collaboration with the University of Costa Rica in San José and the National University in Heredia.
1996-98. University of Texas. Developed testing program for over 1,000 first-year students of Spanish.
Community Outreach:
2005 - present. Work with EC Scholars at Belvoir Elementary School, identifying at-risk Hispanic children for after school tutoring and providing ESL and literacy classes for parents.
2008-Present. Organizer-facilitator, Hispanic Women’s Group. Plan activities on parenting, driver’s licenses, Head Start, etc.
2005-present. Work with Pitt Community College Adult Ed instructors to provide ESL classes at Sheppard Memorial Library.
2003- present Member, Hispanic Outreach Committee, The Memorial Baptist Church. Coordinating ESL classes and training instructors for Hispanics in Greenville; working with local agencies to provide food, clothing and furniture for recent immigrants.
2003- present. Community in Schools Volunteer, Spanish Teacher and English/Spanish Interpreter, Greenville.
2005- 2008. Partner/supporter for North Carolina Hispanic Children’s Summer Camp.
