Dr. Fladenmuller specializes in the study of the modern novel with numerous contributions on the work of Proust. He is currently expanding his fields to include studies in comparative literature. A new book project deals with the concepts of "neuter" and "chaos" as they apply to modern, and in particular, postmodern narratives. He is also writing a new novel, a pseudo-autobiography with a central character by the name of "Chaos".

"For my lit classes: Respect the primacy of the original text. Where is the text? that's what is just in front of you right now. Reading should be a pleasurable activity not too distant from the pure enjoyment of a work of art. Judge a book by its letters and leave the paratext alone!
Did I just say that?"
