 France!
Paris : For students with a high level of French. You will be partially immersed in the French language, taking classes at the Sorbonne and also classes organized by instructors from the UNC Wilmington Consortium study abroad program in Paris. This is a semester or year-long program.
Tours: For students with a very high level of French. You will be completely immersed in French language university classes at Université François-Rabelais. This is a semester or year-long program. One hour away from Paris by train, Tours possesses an exceptional situation in the heart of the Loire Valley area. The Tours area, which boasts many beautiful castles, was praised by great French writers such as Balzac, Ronsard and Rabelais. Université François-Rabelaishas an enrollment of about 22,000 (1,900 foreign students), and offers a comprehensive education in the natural and social sciences, fine arts and humanities, including the Centre d'Études Supérieures de la Renaissance, founded in 1956. The exchange is open to ECU students in any department.
Rennes : For students with an interest in international business; many of the classes at the Rennes International School of Business (Group École Supérieure de Commerce de Rennes) are in English. This is a semester or year-long program. Rennes is a lively student town in the Brittany region, about three hours west of Paris by train. In addition to boasting various universities, a law school and a medical school, Rennes is a town rich in cultural activities, particularly for young people, like the yearly music festival Les Transmusicales de Rennes.

 | Germany! Nine Universities of Baden-Württemberg Germany Through the State-supported "UNC Exchange Program (UNC-EP)", all 16 campuses of the UNC System participate in a one-year or spring semester exchange with universities of SW Germany in: Freiburg, Heidelberg, Hohenheim, Karlsruhe, Konstanz, Mannheim, Stuttgart, Tübingen, and Ulm.  Russia! Saratov State University in Russia Located on the Volga-river southeast of Moscow, Saratov is a city of nearly a million people. It is the educational center of Central Russia, with 10 universities and 21 institutions of research and science. Saratov is one of the important cultural centers in the European part of Russia, with its famous opera, ballet, and drama theatres, museums, orthodox churches, art galleries, rare books libraries, music conservatory, and concert halls. Saratov is a large river port. In the summer liners come up to its river-boat station and bring tourists from different parts of the country. In the winter you can enjoy sledding, ice-skating and cross-country skiing. Saratov State University is one of the oldest in Russia. American students may study on exchange program in Saratov for one semester. ECU students pay tuition and fees at the ECU rate. Russian 1001-1004 is recommended before travel.  | Spain! Universidad de Cantabria, Santander Spain The North Carolina Consortium for Study Abroad, in cooperation with the Universidad de Cantabria, offers a fall semester abroad program in Spain. Undergraduates from six North Carolina Campuses, as well as qualified students from other institutions, have the opportunity to spend a semester in the coastal city of Santander, taking classes from Spanish professors in Spanish geography, literature, art, and history. For more information, see the UNC Charlotte Brochure. | Mexico! There is an ECU sponsored UNC system summer study abroad program in Monterrey Mexico at Universidad Regiomontana. The Spanish Language and Mexican Cultural Perspective Program is intended for prospective teachers interested in improving Spanish fluency, meeting the learning needs of and developing a greater sensitivity to their Hispanic students, and expanding their general knowledge of the Mexican and Hispanic experience and Hispanic culture. Ninth Street (252) 328-4829, 328-1937 dudleyb@ecu.edu ECU has "student swap" agreements with many countries (Australia, Belize, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Finland, France, Japan, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom), which means that you pay ECU tuition to study at the host country's institution. This is one of several ways to help alleviate the financial burden of study abroad.
