Flower market in Tours, France

SEMESTER OR YEAR IN TOURS

Université François-Rabelais, situated on the Loire river, has an enrollment of about 22,000, among which 1,900 are foreign students, giving it excellent diversity. It is a center for studies in the natural sciences, social sciences and engineering, law and business, and an important center in the humanities, languages and art, including the Centre d'Etudes Supérieures de la Renaissance founded in 1956.

Tours, France

One hour away from Paris by train, Tours possesses an exceptional situation in the heart of the Loire Valley area. The Tours area, which boasts many beautiful castles, was praised by great French writers such as Balzac, Ronsard and Rabelais.

Travel in France

The exchange with the Université François-Rabelais is open to all full-time ECU students who may enroll in any courses in any department subject to approval. Those with language proficiency adequate to enroll in regular courses (taught in French) at the university will be regarded as exchange students and are eligible to pay tuition and fees directly to ECU at ECU rates. Those without enough French to pass a proficiency exam may enroll in the French Language Institute for Foreign Students (CUEFEE). However such students will not be regarded as exchange students and will pay tuition and fees directly to the CUEFEE. Further details and application forms are available at the ECU Office of International Affairs.
