Study Abroad
Geography entails the study of interaction between social and natural phenomena in particular places across the globe. Learning firsthand about these interactions in diverse parts of the world is an important element of becoming an informed geographer and a global citizen. The Department of Geography, Planning and Environment at East Carolina University offers both undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to participate in a number of study abroad programs to facilitate this learning process. We regularly offer a trip to
Costa Rica
(led by Drs. Tom Allen and Beth Bee) as well as a trip to Jordan (led by Drs. Megan Perry (Anthropology) and Thad Wasklewicz). We strongly encourage students who are considering study abroad to plan early. Specific questions about the programs themselves should be directed to the trip leaders. You are also encouraged to talk with your faculty advisor about how study abroad can fit into your regular course of study.
