There is a wealth of data sets
from state agencies and agencies in county and city levels through various
private contractors. Wealthy data sets within the universities and private
sector as well as selected regional GIS data clearinghouses with remotely
sensed data also exist. More importantly, there is a history of strong
collaboration among universities, government, and local users in the state of
North Carolina. North Carolina is blessed with a strong remote sensing
intellectual capital, including several established and new doctoral and
masters-level geography and environmental sciences programs.
