Tom Herron agreed to invite Prof. Raymond Cormier of Longwood University to speak on a Medieval topic.
Agenda Item 2. Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the Dec. 1 2009 meeting were approved as submitted.
Agenda Item 3. Faculty Seminar
Extensive discussion of books and format including opening reading group meetings to general faculty and students. The committee voted to approve the following proposals:
Great Books committee members will be solicited for suggestions for Great Books which they would like to read as a group, and especially for those which they would be willing to lead discussion. Each member to bring 2 suggestions for the fall meeting.
Mona Russell (History) volunteered to lead discussion Fall 2010: Naguib Mahfouz, Midaq Alley (trans. Trevor Le Gassick) NY: Anchor Books 1992. There will be two meetings over the course of the semester, various venues (including Tipsy Teapot) discussed.
To be determined: dates, venue, refreshments, advertising
