With private funds, we can offer opportunities for our students and faculty while providing for research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels that we would not be able to accomplish with just public funds alone. The bottom line is that private giving provides the margin of excellence for Harriot College.
Support for Harriot College and its fifteen academic departments can make a large difference in the kind of educational experiences we offer our students. Scholarships (both merit and need based), professorships, and programmatic support offer assistance that cannot be funded by the State of North Carolina. Creating that margin of excellence for Harriot College relies on the contributions of alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations that are used to fund a wide range of lectures, equipment, teaching, curricular, and other areas that benefit students directly. Gifts can also be designated for specific initiatives.
