Asian Studies Program

Description:

The Asian Studies Minor is an interdisciplinary program designed for students interested in studying the Asian humanities, especially history, philosophy, religion, art, languages and literatures. The Asian Studies Minor also fully accommodates those interested in approaching the study of Asia from the perspective of the social sciences. Students may thus choose electives from a variety of disciplines, including anthropology, art, economics, foreign languages and literatures, geography, geology, history, philosophy, religion, and sociology. Two required courses, "Introductionto Asia" and "Senior Seminar in Asian Studies," provide students with the essential cultural foundations of Asian Studies and a capstone opportunity for advanced research. Though not required, the study of an Asian language and participation in a summer study abroad course are encouraged.
