Meet the MAIS Students
Marcus is originally from and grew up in Fayetteville, NC. Marcus completed his undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a major in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy. He began his MAIS degree this semester and will have a concentration in Professional Communication. Marcus is currently a graduate assistant with the Office of International Affairs at ECU’s International House. He also volunteers by leading English Conversation classes for ECULA, the ECU Language Academy that provides international students with opportunities to practice their English language skills. He also is a tutor for the Supporting Transition and Education through Planning and Partnerships (STEPP) program. Marcus speaks Korean, a little Mandarin Chinese, and very little Spanish and will use his Korean skills for the foreign language requirement of the program. He also spent one year in South Korea teaching English in a public middle school. Marcus wants to teach Psychology overseas at a school and would also like to be an international admissions counselor or international recruiter. Marcus loves working and speaking with international students and in his spare time is currently studying music mixing. He also enjoys listening to others speak about their problems.
