Phylicia grew up not far from East Carolina University in New Bern, NC. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History at Meredith College in 2009. After graduating, Phylicia spent a semester in Sheffield, England studying Human Osteology and Funerary Archaeology at the graduate level. Phylicia recently began study in the MAIS and is working on a concentration in International Higher Education Administration, a Certificate in TESOL and a Certificate in International Teaching. She works in New Bern as an Office Assistant at a law firm but hopes to obtain a Graduate Assistantship position for the fall of 2013. Phylicia plans to do her field experience in Italy and is in the process of learning Italian for the foreign language requirement of the MAIS program. In 2008 Phylicia visited Italy on a study abroad program and cannot wait to return for her upcoming field experience! Her career goals are to work in a study abroad office, creating and managing programs, as well as teaching them. Phylicia’s extracurricular activities include volunteering at the soup kitchen, the Rape Crisis Center, the animal shelter, and the Craven Literacy Program. She also enjoys traveling, learning about new cultures, photography, hiking and horseback riding.
