Multidisciplinary Studies Major

Students may earn either a BA or BS degree in Multidisciplinary Studies, with a concentration in Neuroscience. Interested students should contact Dr. Tuan Tran for an appointment. After your initial interview and if you meet the minimum requirements for declaring a major as well as meeting the minimum GPA qualification (3.0), you will be eligible for declaring the major. You can download a PDF of the current requirements for the major by clicking here.

  • The courses listed as degree requirements may have prerequisites or corequisites that are not indicated. See the current catalog for details.
  • Students pursuing a BS degree who are also participating in the MD/7 program must meet all the specified requirements for their major. In addition, the student will need to fulfill the pre-health concentration by taking BIOL 1100, 1101, 1200, 1201; PHYS 1250, 1251, 1260, 1261. If the student is accepted for admission to the Brody School of Medicine under the MD/7 program, the first year of medical studies will count toward fulfilling the remaining hours of electives as required for graduation.

Multidisciplinary Studies Minor

The minor is designed to provide students with an introduction to the study of neuroscience at the various structural and functional levels of analysis, including molecular, cellular, integrative, and behavioral. The minor requires completion of core courses (20 s.h), a laboratory course (2 or 3 s.h), and an elective course (2-5 s.h.). In the event that courses required for the minor are also required for the student’s major, neuroscience elective courses should be taken so that a minimum of 24 s.h. of unique neuroscience courses are completed for the minor. The minimum requirements for the minor are 24 semester hours. Please see the current catalog for specific course requirements or download the neuroscience minor checksheet by clicking here.
