The Department of Physics shares the Howell Science Complex with the Department of Biology on the University's east campus. In addition to classrooms, offices and well-equipped teaching and research laboratories, the department operates electronic and machine shops to provide service to faculty and students throughout the University. The department maintains state-of-the-art computing facilities, including a recently upgraded student computing laboratory with PowerMac and Pentium-based PCs.
Faculty members in the department have developed laboratories specialized to their research interests. Equipment is often shared between groups and individual researchers which increases the versatility of the research environment and expands opportunities for student research.
