Misun Hur is an Associate Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at East Carolina University. She holds a Ph.D. in City & Regional Planning from The Ohio State University with a human and environment emphasis; a master's degree in City & Regional Planning from The Ohio State University and another master's degree in Landscape Architecture from University of Seoul, South Korea.
Her research centers on two areas: the relationship between the built environment and the human interactions within it and research methods in social relations. Her research interests include: neighborhood satisfaction, quality of life, housing, applied GIS analysis, community development, community-driven research through scholarship in engagement, and interdisciplinary research. Dr. Hur's recent work includes research on marginalized groups' access to resources and quality of life. She currently works on research which focuses on marginalized groups' housing locations and the relationship with health and well-being in eastern North Carolina.
