Degree Options
The BS in urban and regional planning at East Carolina University is designed to prepare competent professionals who have a strong foundation in theories, methods, and techniques of planning with specialty areas in small town and rural planning, coastal and environmental planning, urban design, and GIS applications in planning. The curriculum has a strong multidisciplinary orientation, and it usually begins in the second semester of the sophomore year. The planning student will complete core courses in theory, law and techniques and will acquire skills in the application of design, computers, and statistics in planning. Upon completion of this preparation, the student has the option of pursuing one of two emphases in planning (urban and regional planning or coastal planning and development).
