Master of Arts & Certificate of Advanced Study Program in School Psychology
Program Overview
The Department of Psychology at East Carolina University offers the Master of Arts and Certificate of Advanced Study in School Psychology (MA/CAS). The mission of the program is to prepare professional school psychologists who work in a competent and creative way with children, parents and educational personnel in the school system and various other settings. The MA/CAS meets the educational requirements for licensure as a school psychologist in North Carolina, for State Board of Psychology licensure in North Carolina as a Psychological Associate, and certification by the National School Psychology Certification Board. Graduates also qualify for certification and licensure in many other states. The MA/CAS program is a combined degree program, and both degrees are awarded simultaneously upon successful completion of the program. The specialist program is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Admission is for full-time graduate study, beginning in the fall semester only. Applications for Fall 2007 Admission are accepted until the program is full. The program is full-time with classes offered on-campus during the day. There is no distance education option for this program.
