Dr. Victoria Frede joined the Department of History in the Fall of 2003. She was awarded a PhD in Russian history by UC Berkeley in 2002 and a MPhil in Russian Thought in 1996. In 1993 she received her BA in History from Cambridge University. Last year she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harriman Institute at Columbia University.
Dr. Richard Ericson joined the ECU faculty in the summer of 2003 as professor and chair of the Department of Economics. Dr. Ericson is currently President of the Association for Comparative Economic Studies and Professor of Economics at Columbia University, where he served formerly as Director of The Harriman Institute for the Advanced Study of the Soviet Union. Earlier in his career, he served as a Research Fellow at the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan, as Chair of the International Advisory Board - EERC-Russia, as Director of Research for the Council of Foreign Relations Russian Economic Task Force, and as a faculty member at Urals State University in Ekaterinburg, Russia; Stockholm Institute for Transitional Economics of the Stockholm Higher School of Economics; New Economic School, Moscow; Northwestern; Yale; and Harvard. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Georgetown, he holds the MIA in Russian Area Studies from Columbia and the PhD in Economics from UC - Berkeley. Home page: http://www.columbia.edu/~ree3/
