Paul Cunningham Visit

The Center for Diversity and Inequality Research and the Department of Sociology sponsored the October 16th, 2013 visit of Brandeis sociologist, Dr. Paul Cunningham. He visited with a large assembly of Rose High School students and sociology students enrolled in a research methodology course. Dr. Cunningham participated in an informal discussion with faculty members from various Harriott College of Arts and Sciences departments. He also delivered a presentation to students, faculty members and people from the community at Sheppard Memorial Library. Each presentation focused upon his recent book, Klansville, U.S.A. The research-based book highlights the rise and fall of the Ku Klux Klan in NC in opposition to 1960's civil rights legislation. NC led the nation in KKK activity and membership.

The Dirty Little Secret: Police Perjury and Justice
with Morgan Cloud, Charles Howard Chandler Professor of Law at Emory University School of Law

Morgan Cloud teaches and writes about criminal law, criminal procedure, constitutional theory and comparative constitutional law.  He practiced law as a trial lawyer and litigator in Florida and California before joining the Emory faculty.  He served as a program director for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy for more than 20 years and currently lectures to practicing attorneys around the country about trial practice and civil litigation.
