Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Computer Science


The Computer Science Department offers both the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees in Computer Science.  The B.S. program is comprehensive in nature, preparing students for either professional employment in the field or for further studies in graduate school.

 

It provides a more comprehensive background in mathematics, science and underlying principles of computer science. The Computer Science Department maintains an active dialog with its industrial supporters and alumni through advisory boards and by other means in order to make sure that all of its programs remain relevant and current.

A Rapidly Growing Field

Computer science will become an increasingly necessary field according to the U. S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) with a projected growth of 12% between 2010 – 2020 for many of the jobs in the field.

The job prospects for computer information and research scientists are even brighter with projected growth of 19% in the same period.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available to those who qualify. The student financial aid department provides education, guidance, and support to individuals and families in the financial aid process by administering Federal, State, and Institutional aid programs to students at East Carolina University.
