Change the World with a Computer Science Degree
Computer Science is not about programming. Computer Science is advancing our civilization through creative problem solving using the enormous power of modern computers.
Do you want to make a difference in other people's lives? Do you want to make the world a better place to live and work? Save the environment? Find cures for devastating diseases? Make groundbreaking discoveries in developing clean and sustainable energy?
Can you think of any walk of human endeavor that is not impacted by computers and software technologies? In fact, our civilization runs on computer software. From agriculture, weather prediction, aircraft design and manufacturing, power generation, robotic surgery, mars rovers, drug discovery, animation and movie making, to smart phones critically depend on computers. Your phone has multiple embedded computers and a modern car has over thirty of them.
Abundant Job Opportunities
According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer science is one of the top 10 fastest growing major occupational groups 2010 - 2020. There are 150,000+ job openings in computing annually 22% job growth rate. By 2020, 1 in every 2 jobs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) will be in computing. In other words, out of 9.2 million STEM jobs in 2020, half of them (4.6 million) will be in computing.
Whether your life's mission is to make the world a better place or you seek a fulfilling and financially rewarding career, Computer Science is the place to be.
Do you want to awaken and nurture your entrepreneurial spirit? You only need a good idea and a few hundreds dollars of investment in a laptop to unlock this spirit.
No matter what your academic and career pursuits are, computing knowledge gives you an edge. It transforms you from being a consumer of software technologies to a creator of solutions to problems that matter most to our society.
