Freshmen Admission Requirements:
Admission to the Engineering Program is highly competitive. We regret that we cannot accept all who apply. Here are the criteria that our selection committee takes into consideration:
- SAT or ACT scores, particularly math
- Unweighted high school GPA
- Class rank, if available
- Highest math level completed
- Quality of essay in our engineering application
We accept applications every semester. Students who are not initially admitted into the program may apply at a later date (see Transfer Student Requirements).
Transfer Student Admission Requirements:
Transfer students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and completed the equivalent of Math 2171 (Calculus 1) with a C or higher, ENGL 1100 and 2201, and CHEM 1150/1151. Student's who enter with an Associate's in Engineering will be given preference.
The first round of admissions decisions into the Engineering program for Fall will be sent out at the end of November. Applicant pools will be reviewed monthly after that, with decision letters going out at the end of December, January, February, and March for Fall admission. The deadline for freshman admission into ECU is March 15. For transfer students, the deadline is April 4. The Engineering program will review applications from current ECU students up until May 15 for fall admission and December 1 for spring admission.
