About the fall season...
The Art Education, Dance Education, Music Education and Theatre Education areas within the College of Fine Arts and Communication announce their fall season of presentations intended to celebrate leadership in arts education. This second year of speakers and workshops is entitled “Lighted Torch” and is funded by a BB&T Leadership Institute grant and a College of Fine Arts and Communication grant. Young Playwright's Project: Public School Workshops
Details: The Young Playwright’s Project will develop leadership skills in students in Pitt County and Beaufort County through reading, playwriting and performance by partnering with ECU faculty and students, and artist-in-residence children’s book author and illustrator, Hank and Jan Racer (Marky the Barking Bullfrog, The River Rats, Riddle Me A Mystery). Becoming a Cultural Diplomat: Global Leadership in Music
Location: ECU Campus, Fletcher Recital Hall & B105 Fletcher Music Center

BrainDance and Brain-Compatible (Dance Education Workshop)
Location: ECU Campus, School of Theatre and Dance
Details: Featuring Terry Goetz, director of the Creative Dance Center of Seattle. Delve into brain-compatible teaching, the subject of renowned dance educator and author Anne Green Gilbert’s newest book Brain-Compatible Dance Education. Through movement and discussion, Terry will take participants through Anne’s five-part conceptual lesson plan format and the brain-compatible principles that underpin it.
