Position Title: Communications Technician

General Description: Assists the Public Information Officer in the development, production, and implementation of external and internal communications for the City of Greenville.
Minimum Requirements: Responsibilities include graphic design, preparing camera-ready documents for professional printing, photography, writing and editing text for publication, and updating web site content. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator). Ability to operate live cable access equipment, video camera, and digital still camera a plus; experience in a video setting preferred. Two to three years experience in a graphics environment with some college experience preferred.

CSTV, the 24-hour college sports network from CBS, is currently hiring campus representatives from your campus. Gain priceless hands-on marketing experience while working on a variety of campus campaigns.  Campus Reps have the unique opportunity to work on initiatives for CSTV, CBS properties, and our advertisers.  
 
Throughout the semester, you will actively work on innovative marketing programs.  Together with fellow Campus Reps from your school, you will put together strategic marketing plans and then execute, report on, and evaluate each campaign.  Past campaigns have included Powerbar, Panasonic, the CW Network, primetime CBS shows and March Madness.

  RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Collaborate with other reps on campus to create and execute strategic marketing plans for each campaign assigned
·         Complete all work to the best of your ability in a professional and timely manner
·         Spread the word on campus with promotions, online social networking, postering, viewing parties and giveaways   
·         Identify and partner with local shops and bars for promotions
·         Summarize, report on, and successfully capture your work (reports, screenshots, and pictures)
·         Keep in regular communication with the rep coordinator and teammates
 
QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants must be current college students in good standing.  Students should have about four hours a week to dedicate to the program.  Applicants should also:
·         Work well independently and in teams
·         Be reliable and organized
·         Have strong analytical and writing skills
·         Be connected/involved on campus (organization/clubs, Greek life, etc)
·         Member/active user of online community websites (facebook, Myspace, etc)
·         Access to a digital camera

COMPENSATION
Students can work for either college credit or a stipend (see note below).  Many projects also include prizing incentives.
·         College Credit:  CSTV will work with the student to fill out any necessary paperwork.  Please note that this is a flexible position with varying hours, so be sure to check your campus’ requirements.
·         Stipend:  This is payment on a per-project basis.  Each campaign is assigned a varying amount (on average usually $150).  Upon completion of a campaign, you will be sent a check for the amount.

The Story with Dick Gordon is a new public radio program, distributed nationally by American Public Media. We are seeking a part-time researcher. The position is 4 days a week, and we are open to position-sharing by two people. Job responsibilities include: conduct research; conduct guest pre-interviews; perform some audio editing; research and select audio to enhance programs; other duties as assigned.

The East Carolinian is currently recruiting students for the Copy Editor and Multimedia Editor positions for both the summer and fall. We are looking for dedicated, self-motivated, hard-working students with writing experience and leadership skills. This is an excellent opportunity for students who want to gain real journalism experience.

Copy Editors are responsible for editing and proofreading text. They should be able to identify spelling and grammar mistakes, factual errors, and word misusage. Experience is preferred but not required. During the summer, Copy Editors can expect to read between 10-15 articles per week.

The Multimedia Editor is responsible for putting new stories on The East Carolinian’s website and for monitoring the online forum. They should have a working knowledge of HTML, general web design and proper internet etiquette. Experience working with online information is required.
