Welcome

From the Graduate Program Director/Interim Associate Director

The School of Communication is making a difference...

Today there exists a pressing need to study the health of our children, citizens, and communities from a communication perspective. Our school is responding to this need with its master of arts degree in communication, emphasizing health communication. Health communication is currently among the fastest-growing areas in the discipline.

Our faculty is making a difference...

We are prominent in the discipline, representing diverse areas of study such as computer-mediated communication, doctor-patient interactions, health advertising, and critical-cultural studies. The arts are also central to our faculty expertise as documentaries and award-winning media are regularly produced. The halls of Joyner East have a community feel with accessible faculty and small seminar-style courses.

Our graduate students are making a difference...

From creating a student-run organization and journal, to teaching courses and attending conferences, our graduate students are among the best in the state. Our graduates are recruited into the health care industry and not-for-profit sector, and they are also well prepared to enter doctoral programs. Whether seeking advanced academic study or career mobility, our graduates are prepared to excel.

So join the School of Communication where you too can make a difference.
