PRSSA

ECU has its own chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.

The purpose of the ECU Chapter of the PRSSA is to cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relations practitioners.
The student society aims to foster the following:
  • Understanding of current theories and procedures of the profession
  • Appreciation of the highest ethical ideals and principles
  • Awareness of an appropriate professional attitude
  • Appreciation of Associate Membership in PRSA and eventually accredited membership

The mission of PRSSA is

  • to serve our members by enhancing their knowledge of public relations and providing access to professional development opportunities;

  • to serve the public relations profession by helping to develop highly qualified, well-prepared professionals.

ECU has its own chapter of the National Broadcasting Society.

The National Broadcasting Society goes beyond the classroom to prepare college students and entry-level professionals for careers in the electronic media. This mission is accomplished through six areas of focus:

1) Promoting excellence
2) Providing exposure to the electronic industry
3) Providing opportunities for ethical and responsible leadership
4) Providing advance media programs
5) Providing assistance in career preparations
6) Encouraging engagement in community service projects

Toastmasters at ECU
Toastmasters International is an organization designed to help members become better speakers and leaders. Guests always welcome. If you join, there is a one-time new member fee of $20 and 6 months dues of $27. After that dues only. This is an excellent opportunity to improve public speaking and leadership skills in a supportive, friendly environment.
