How to Apply
1. See your advisor to be sure the courses you select fit into your curriculum requirements. Earn 12-18 credits during fall or spring semesters. Earn 3-6 credits during summer sessions.
2. Click this link to download the Italy Intensives Study Abroad Application.
3. Fill out and email a copy of the first page of the application to Italy Intensives Program Director, Linda Darty at:

4. When she lets you know that you have been accepted into the program, mail or hand deliver all pages of the completed application along with the non-refundable $75.00 application fee to:

Visiting Students
If you are enrolled in an undergraduate program at another university: At the same time you send in the Italy Intensives application, you will need to apply to ECU as a VISITING STUDENT – this is very easy and requires a form signed by your advisor approving your classes, along with a $70.00 payment to ECU to apply as a visiting student Visit this web page to download the visiting student permission form.
Send the completed and signed form to the Office of Continuing Studies, with a $70.00 visiting student application fee. The visiting student permission form and the $70.00 fee should be mailed in the same envelope with the Italy Intensives Study Abroad application and the $75.00 Italy Intensives application fee. Both checks should be made out to East Carolina University. The $75.00 Italy Intensives Application fee will not be deposited until you have been accepted as a visiting student. If you are not accepted as a visiting student, your application and $75.00 will be sent back to you. Be sure to arrange transfer credits with your home institution before applying to the program. If you have completed an undergraduate degree at ECU or another university...
The Visiting student status described above is for undergraduate students only. If you wish to apply for The Italy Intensives program and you have already completed your undergraduate degree, you will need to submit a Non-Degree Graduate application through the Graduate School. The Non-Degree application requires a $70.00 application fee payable online and an official transcript showing your awarded undergraduate degree. Fees and Financial Aid
The Italy Intensives programs have been designed to provide an exceptional study abroad opportunity with unprecedented value and affordability. Graduate and Undergraduate students from other institutions can attend the Italy Intensive programs for the same price as ECU students, with no additional charge for out of state fees. The price to study on the Italy Intensives program is less than the cost of paying ECU out of state tuition.

Included in Program Cost:
- Tuition
- Transportation to and from airports in Italy
- Health insurance while abroad on the program
- Lodgings and utilities in Certaldo
- Lodgings on all overnight trips
- Transportation on all school trips in Italy (buses, trains, boats, metros)
- Dinners on all class days
- Breakfast and Dinners on overnight trips
- Museum entrances and tours
- 3 days in Rome
- 3 days in Venice
- Trips to Florence and Cinque Terre
- 3 day semester break trip to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast
- Day trips to San Gimignano, Pisa, Volterra, Siena, Naples and Castellina
- Entrance to Cinque Terre National Park on the Mediterranean

Airfare
Though the program fee does not include trans-atlantic airfare, a group flight will be recommended. Airfare is usually $1,200.00 or less. If students fly with the group, or arrive and depart close to the group flight times, ground transportation to and from the airports in Rome and Venice will be provided at no extra cost.
