Named for Robert L. "Roddy" Jones, former chair of the ECU Board of Trustees, the Robert L. Jones Distinguished Professorship in Music is awarded to nationally and internationally recognized music performers from any standard performance area including keyboard instruments, voice, choral, strings, woodwinds, brass, or percussion. It is a dynamic position, changing annually, that brings diverse acclaimed professionals to teach, concertize, and supplement the education of ECU School of Music students. This position provides the university and the larger community with inspired, motivational, and unique learning opportunities from musicians who possess the highest ideals of teaching, creative activity, and leadership in music performance.
