John Franklin BM, Florida State University; MM, DM, Indiana University; Franklin’s work with college athletic and symphonic bands includes stints as the director of athletic bands at the University of West Georgia, interim director of bands at the College of Wooster, associate instructor at Indiana University, and as a member of the bands at Florida State University
In addition to teaching courses in music education and applied low brass, Dr. Franklin has worked with various pre-college band programs at Indiana University and Emory University, written for the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series, and had his transcriptions performed by a number of different groups.
