Ph.D., Duke University; BM, Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. Awarded a 2007-08 North Carolina Arts Council Artist Fellowship. Co-Founder and Co-Director of pulsoptional. Residencies at Wildacres, The Chamber Music Conference and Composers' Forum of the East, and the North Carolina Governor's School. Commissions and performances by Branford Marsalis and the Ciompi Quartet, Christopher Chaffee, and ALEA III. Composition studies with Samuel Adler, Warren Benson, Stephen Jaffe, Scott Lindroth, Robert Morris, and Joseph Schwantner. Works published by Fugu Fish (ASCAP). Recordings on Fugu Fish Recordings, Pox World Empire, and Carbon Records. Scholarly papers on underground rock music published in Popular Music and Society and presented at AMS Southeast Chapter Meeting and McGill Graduate Music Symposium. Former faculty member at Duke University.
