Audition Information
Membership in the East Carolina University Symphony Orchestra is by audition only. Auditions for Woodwinds, Brass & Percussion will be held Aug. 19 & 20. Please contact your studio teacher for more information.
Auditions for strings will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 in Room 105 as follows:
Viola - 1:00 p.m.
Cello - 2:00 p.m.
Bass - 2:45 p.m.
Violin - 3:30 p.m.
Concertmaster - 5:00 p.m.
Auditions will be held as if you are auditioning for a professional orchestra. When playing your audition you should demonstrate not only the ability to play the correct notes, but also correct style, tempo, dynamics, intonation, length of notes and rhythm accuracy, etc.
Everyone needs to be present at the scheduled time for your instrument to determine the order that you will be auditioning.
Audition for Concertmaster:
If you wish to audition for the concertmaster position, please prepare the first movement (exposition) of a major concerto and one movement of Bach's Solo Sonatas & Partitas in addition to the excerpts above.
