It is my privilege to present the 11th Season of the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival.

The festival has developed in a remarkable way over our first ten years and is now firmly established as a world-class festival and a cultural leader in eastern North Carolina. As we embark upon our second decade, it is important to:
  

Recognize and celebrate all the wonderful memories and successes of our first ten years.

Enjoy each and every performance, master class, children’s concert and community interaction that the current season brings.

Look forward to the future as an opportunity to continue the festival’s growth and development in exciting and substantive ways.

Acknowledging our past, our present and the tremendous potential for our future allows us to move forward with a sense of perspective and a renewed vigor. With this in mind, we will begin our second decade with a season that promises to be our best one yet.

The 2010-2011 Season welcomes world-renowned musicians from China, England, Finland, Germany, Israel, Japan, Korea, and throughout the United States for concerts and outreach initiatives. As always, the festival’s focus is the four residencies that form its core. Spread throughout the year, these residencies include the back-to-back nights of concerts that you have come to expect, as well as countless master classes, open rehearsals and children’s concerts.

I would also like to draw your attention to Four Seasons Family Night and the festival’s Next Generation Concerts. Both have become festival traditions and add new dimensions to the festival’s presence in our community.

Four Seasons Family Night is a part of Children’s Residency IV and is an opportunity for you to enjoy an interactive concert with your children or grandchildren. Family Night is the perfect way for children of all ages to come to a Four Seasons concert–and the not-so-secret truth about it is that the adults will love it as well!

Next Generation Concerts feature guest artists, ECU faculty artists, and selected current and former ECU students. You will be amazed at the quality of the performances and you will be thrilled by the precociousness of the next generation. The interaction between all involved in these concerts creates a special and unique atmosphere for the students, the mentoring artists, and the audience alike.

Finally, I ask that you continue to spread the word about the festival to your friends, family, and colleagues. It is this word-of-mouth communication that has proven to be the best way to spread the word about the festival. As we move forward into our second decade, it is more important than ever that new people and families experience all that Four Seasons has to offer.
