Ástor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires
Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons

Four Seasons Features is a new initiative that features a specific topic or genre. The year's residency features the violin and the famous Four Seasons concerti of Vivaldi and Piazzolla. Guest artists, ECU faculty artists and selected current and former ECU students will join together for this special Four Seasons concert, Next Generation Concert I, outreach and educational initiatives throughout Pitt County.


Ida Kavafian, violin
The versatile violinist/violist Ida Kavafian has performed extensively as a soloist, as Artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, as co-founder of Tashi, OPUS ONE, Trio Valtorna, Bravo! Colorado in Vail and Music from Angel Fire, where she is Artistic Director. Former member of the renowned Beaux Arts Trio, she is a faculty member at The Curtis Institute, The Juilliard School and Bard College. She has also found great success with her hobby, raising prize winning purebred Vizsla dogs.

Hagai Shaham, violin
First prize winner of the 1990 Munich ARD International Music Competition, Shaham has performed as soloist with the English Chamber Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic and the Israel Philharmonic. He has appeared at Carnegie Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, and has performed at the Schleswig- Holstein, Montpellier, Kuhmo, Pablo- Casals and Israel festivals. Shaham is a member of the faculty at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University and is Artist-in- Residence at Stony Brook University. View Full Bio


Hye-Jin Kim, violin
Winner of the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition and the Concert Artists Guild International Competition, Hye-Jin Kim has performed as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony, BBC Concert Orchestra and the Seoul Philharmonic. She made her Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall debut in 2011 and has appeared at the Marlboro, Ravinia, Music@Menlo, Music from Angel Fire and Seoul Spring festivals. Ara Gregorian, violin
Founder and Artistic Director of the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, Gregorian made his New York recital debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and his debut as soloist with the Boston Pops Orchestra. He has appeared in cities throughout the world including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Vancouver, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tel Aviv and Helsinki, and has performed as a member of the Daedalus Quartet and Concertante.
