Teacher Training in Guitar
    This summer, ECU will again offer its course in Teacher Training for Guitar. This fou-day content intensive course is designed to help current and future music educators become effective guitar teachers. No guitar experience? Some guitar experience? Already an experienced guitar teacher looking to further your professional development? The course is open to all musicians with a passion for teaching!
The faculty at the ECU Summer Guitar Workshop is comprised of highly accomplished professionals. The instructors for the teacher training are all fully licensed teachers with years of experience successfully teaching guitar to students of all levels, from elementary school guitar classes to university music majors and aspiring professionals. Our faculty has the knowledge and experience to help you.
This training course takes place during the ECU Summer Guitar Workshop. As a participant, you will receive free guitar teaching materials and benefit from hands-on, interactive classroom instruction, as well as individual guidance and private guitar lessons. Also, as a participant you will be granted full access to the guitar events at the workshop including: artist master classes, youth and collegiate solo guitar competitions and world-class guitar concerts.



Teacher Training Topics
Starting a Guitar Class in Your School or Community: Expanding your community’s music culture is easy and there are resources available to you!



Content Knowledge and Skill Development: Learn and practice the skills to become a master guitar teacher.



Curriculum Development: Defining the culture of your guitar program.



Establishing Class Objectives: A working outline of your curriculum.

Pacing: Age and level appropriate pacing to achieve Class Objectives. 



Instructional Strategies: Tools and techniques that work!

Critical Review of Available Teaching Materials and Resources:

Finding and using the “right stuff.”



Evaluation and Assessment: “How are you doing?” Using student evaluations and assessments to fine tune your objectives and instructional strategies.
