The East Carolina University Young Artist Competition for Pre-College Pianists and Organists is an innovative new outreach program designed to inspire young musicians in our region to strive for the highest level of musicianship

and technical accomplishment piano and organ performance. The piano competition is open to students aged 13-18 of any teacher of piano within the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia; the organ competition is open to any pre-college student in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida.
The competition events begin Friday evening with the Festival Piano Recital, performed by guest artist
Roger McVey (pictured, right).
The competitions and prize giving occur on Saturday, with pianists in both the Junior and Senior Division performing at ECU’s A.J. Fletcher School of Music and organ competitors playing the
Perkins and Wells Memorial Organ, C.B. Fisk, Opus 126 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church which borders the ECU campus.
