An important message about Sacred Music and Organ Study at ECU

Sacred Music and Organ Studies are here to stay at East Carolina University. Concerns have been raised about several university programs which were identified by media as being proposed for elimination.  While the media reports stated the facts clearly, the article did not tell the full story.  Going forward, all organ study will fall under the banner of "Sacred Music," and our program will continue to operate in virtually the same way.  While a BM or MM degree in organ performance will no longer be possible, a performance degree in Sacred Music/Organ will remain available, as well as the emphasis in Choral Conducting.  Please help us to clear up any confusion.  Organ applicants are encouraged to continue to apply, and we anticipate a strengthened program as we head into our next academic year.
