Thursday, January 24, 2008


Noon:  Registration in the Parish Hall

1-3 pm Sacred Organ Repertoire for the Church Service: Guest artist Stephen Hamilton presents a bountiful selection of new repertoire of both quality and practicality for the church service.

3-5 pm Mission Impossible:  Console Conducting Techniques for the Ultimate Multi-Taskers,  Janette Fishell, presenter.

8 pm Opening Festival Concert:Stations of the Cross, a musical journey of the Spirit , featuring Le Chemin de la Croix by Marcel Dupré, Stephen Hamilton, organist, played in counterpoint with the spoken word and art.
Followed by the Festival Reception at The Martinsborough,
made possible through gifts of Ed and Jeff Glenn and  the College of Fine Arts and Communication..

A:    Briggs Choral Session

11 am – 12:30 pm
Session Two: Continuation of  Sessions ABCD

12:30 – 1:30  Catered lunch & music browsing in the Parish Hall

1:30 -2:45 and 3-4:45 pm
Session Three: Continuation of Sessions ABC

5 pm    A Feather on the Breath of God:  The remarkable life of Twelfth Century Christian Mystic Hildegard of Bingen (Anderson)

 6:30-7:45 pm    Festival Banquet (ticket included in RAF registration fee)
   
8 pm    King of Kings, Cecil B. DeMille’s silent masterpiece, with improvised organ accompaniment by legendary improvisateur David Briggs.



Saturday, January 26, 2008

8-9 am Parish Hall
Coffee, day registration and music browsing

9 am    Morning Prayer, led by students in the Organ Performance and Sacred Music degree programs at the East Carolina University School of Music

10 am – 12:30 pm
Briggs, Anderson, Art Guild, Sypawka  sessions preparing final for concluding service.

12:30-1:30 pm Parish Hall
Catered Lunch & announcement of 2008  Hymn tune Composition Competition winner

1:30 -2:30 Concluding Festival Service

King of Kings, Queen of Heaven: 
The Many Faces of God Celebrated in Lessons and Carols
led by David Briggs, Leigh Sypawka, Charles Chamberlain, Tony Breuer,
The Rev. Ann Bonner-Stewart, and Festival participants, Janette Fishell, Accompanist.

January 27        5 pm    Choral Evensong sung by the St. Paul’s Episcopal Choir in honor of the feast of the Conversion of Paul, our patron saint.
