ALL INDIVIDUAL AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON, THE DAY YOU REGISTER. BE PREPARED TO PLAY YOUR INSTRUMENT AFTER YOU REGISTER. ALL AUDITIONS MUST BE ON REGISTRATION DAY. LATE AUDITIONS WILL BE UNACCEPTABLE.
You have either forwarded your total fee or the amount for deposit. BE SURE to send the remainder of your camp fee and private lesson fee (if desired) prior to June 1, 2013. All students will be furnished meals in the University Cafeteria. No student should carry any great amount of money for travel, or valuables during camp. It will be possible to place money for travel, etc., with the faculty counselor in the dormitory to which you are assigned. It is suggested that traveler’s checks in small amounts be used. PERSONAL CHECKS CANNOT BE CASHED.
Registration will be held in the dorm on Sunday. If you have a roommate selected, plan to register at the same time. If necessary to arrive at a different hour than the above, notify the Music Office. Also, be sure to bring your HEALTH CERTIFICATE.
Plan to leave after the final concert on Friday evening, June 21, 2013. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. and end approximately at 9:00 p.m. Arrangements should be made to leave after the concert.
Be sure to schedule family activities to allow students to remain for the entire camp. Early departure creates hardships for the musical organizations and a feeling of lack of completion for the student, as a main focus of the camp is the final concert.
The camp is not responsible for items left after the camp session.
WHEN TO ARRIVE:
Please plan to arrive at your dormitory (TBA) between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2013. Everyone must audition between these same hours (1:00 and 6:00 p.m.) on Sunday afternoon immediately after they register and are assigned a room. Be sure to bring a prepared piece for your audition. Auditions are held in the A.J. Fletcher Music Center.
What to Bring
Pillow, pillow cases, single sheets, light-weight blanket, pajamas.
Towels, wash clothes, toothbrush and paste, comb, deodorant.
Raincoat, umbrella, sweater or jacket, bathing suit, COMFORTABLE shoes, coat hangers.
BOYS: Summer casual dress. Long pants and nice shirt for the concert.
GIRLS: Summer casual dress. Nice clothes for concert.
Each student should bring a lock for use on a locker in the Music Building for the storage of his/her instrument and a key chain for his/her key. Parents may wish to check their homeowner’s policy to make sure that musical instruments are covered in this insurance. Instrumental repair service will be available to campers at a reasonable charge.
BAND PLACEMENT AUDITIONS:
Bring instrument and all music you have used for private study. The chromatic scale (practical range) and scales (keys through 2 sharps and 2 flats) will be required. Bring a prepared piece for your audition. It should not exceed two minutes and should be representative of your ability.
REMEMBER . . .PLEASE DO NOT BRING PORTABLE CD/DVD,
SKATEBOARDS OR TELEVISION SETS. THESE ARE PROHIBITED. IPODS are fine in the dorm.
Parents and Students: Please Notice
Students will not be permitted to ride in cars while at camp. Students riding in automobiles with parents must have their parents sign them out of the dormitory and back in upon return. It is requested that students wear shoes at all times.
Bits and Pieces Which May be Helpful
Be sure to bring a pillow. Irons may be brought.
The use of alcohol and/or drugs is strictly forbidden and will not be tolerated. A VIOLATION OF THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION FROM THIS CAMP.
