Campers will live as college students in air-conditioned dormitories with meals provided by our brand-new university cafeterias. All campus health facilities, under the supervision of a university physician, are available to campers at all times if needed. All camp activities are properly supervised by counselors experienced in working with junior and senior high school students.
In addition to full ensemble and sectional rehearsals, campers will have the opportunity to play in small ensembles and attend clinic sessions. Students will have a chance to hear musical programs by faculty artists, participate in music workshops, and take classes in conducting, arranging, and general music. A staff of outstanding musicians has been chosen to lead the campers in these musical experiences.
For students desiring to take a private lesson on their instrument, one-half hour of private study is an option available to all campers.
Campers have a wide choice of recreational activities available. The state-of-the-art Student Recreation Center and Mendenhall Student Center at ECU have proved to be popular attractions for music campers.
Music instruction will be given in the recently expanded A. J. Fletcher Music Center, with spacious rehearsal rooms, ensemble rooms, and individual practice rooms.
