Vocal Audition Requirements
(undergraduate and graduate)
Undergraduate Voice Audition Requirements - Applicants must present two selections; operatic literature is not expected.
- Prepare 1 song in English and 1 in Italian. If you have questions about suitable repertoire, contact the vocal studies department prior to your audition.
- Bring 1 copy of the sheet music for your accompanists. You do not need to bring additional copies of the music.
- CDs and taped accompaniments are not allowed
- Memorization is required
- An accompanist will be provided for your audition.
In addition to the singing portion of your audition, you will be scheduled for an interview with members of the School of Music audition committee, an aural assessment and piano audition. Your piano test will determine your keyboard placement. Although tapes are accepted, you are strongly encouraged to apply in person.
Graduate Voice Audition Requirements
- Prepare four selections in differing styles including works in English, French, German, and Italian.
- Of the four selections, only one operatic or one oratorio aria will be permitted.
- Memorization of all works, including the aria, is required.
- An accompanist will be provided for your audition. Please notify the chair of voice of your selections prior to your audition
