All performances are held in the 1,443-seat Wright Auditorium in the center of East Carolina University’s campus. Seating is assigned.
The main entrance to the auditorium is located on Wright Circle, facing the fountain. The orchestra and balcony levels are beyond the front entrance via a number of stairways. Two elevators serve the venue. Both are located on the south, or plaza side, of the auditorium. From Wright Plaza, the first elevator is located beyond a single glass door beyond the edge of the front porch of the building. It reaches the balcony. Note that there are a few steps to reach the seating area. The second elevator is located just beyond signage marking Dowdy Student Stores/Wright Place. Locate the double set of glass doors and use the elevator (second floor) for ADA access to the orchestra level.
Accessibility: Please call the Central Ticket Office to discuss your needs, as the online portal can yield unexpected results. Wheelchair spaces are available along the outside rows on the orchestra levels. For patrons who wish to move from chair to auditorium seat, select an aisle seat on the orchestra level. The balcony is not wheelchair accessible. There are several steps up to the back of the house, then stairs leading to the seating area. Assistive listening devices are available from the ticket window in the lobby. Patrons may request these tools from any usher.
Effective July 1, 2017. Three parking areas are captured by Parking and Transportation personnel and allocated to SRAPAS credential holders. Credentials are available gratis to FRIENDS at the $250 level and above. Credentials are available for purchase for the season (full or pick five) at $25 per car. A number of handicap spaces in front of and beside Wright Auditorium are allocated on a first-come, first-parked basis. For patrons that are not interested in purchasing credentials, please refer to the parking map for suggested parking strategies. Note that parking on campus is by permit only except during SRAPAS performances. Evening classes and other events can limit availability outside of the credential-accessed lots.
On performance evenings, parking enforcement is relaxed so that you may park near Wright Auditorium in unmarked spaces without regard for the campus parking permit system. As many patrons bring a carload of ticket holders to Family Fare, the vehicle impact on campus is small compared to the number of attendees. Additionally, ECU doesn't hold classes on Friday evenings, so patrons don't have to compete for parking with professors and students. Many patrons arrive early to enjoy the Trustee's Fountain before the performance.
All attendees at Arts Smart events must arrive by bus. Buses drop students and teacher chaperones at Wright Auditorium as directed by Parking and Traffic officers, and then depart to an off-site staging area. Buses are called back to Wright Auditorium for departure according to the distance to be traveled, so that outlying districts have the opportunity to depart as soon as possible following the performance. Bus drivers must remain in their vehicles to ensure ECU's ability to dismiss efficiently and safely. Any variance (e.g.: adding a campus tour to your visit) must be discussed in advance with staff in the Central Ticket Office. While arrival by private vehicle is discouraged, it is possible with advance planning. Purchase a B1 pass and use the "arrival by car" map to park in a B1 lot. The lots are about a ten minute walk away from the venue. B1 passes can be purchased from Parking and Traffic at 305 East Tenth Street (next to McDonald's) on the morning of the performance. The passes can also be purchased well in advance (allowing for mail time) through the Central Ticket Office.
