Graphic Design

Admission to the graphic design concentration is based on a portfolio review. Students submit an application, a writing sample (from ART 2200 or ART 2210), and a portfolio comprised of projects from ART 2200 and ART 2210. Requirements and portfolio specifications are distributed by faculty in the spring semester during ART 2210. Students must have an average 2.6 GPA in ART 2200 and 2210.

Portfolio review only occurs in spring semester, and usually takes place on Reading Day.

Students cannot take any courses above ART 2210 before submitting to the graphic design concentration. Once admitted to the graphic design concentration, upper-division graphic design courses (ART 3200, 3210, 4200, 4205, 4210, and 4215) must be taken in sequence and cannot be taken in fewer than four semester (TWO YEARS) of study, beginning with Art 3200 in the fall semester.

Students are required to purchase a Mac laptop and necessary software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suites) prior to ART 3200 for use in graphic design coursework.
