Faculty
Professor Linda Darty, the head of the metal design program is also the author of the new book The Art of Enameling.. Linda has an extensive national and international exhibition record and has taught many workshops on contemporary metal and enameling techniques in this country and abroad. She has served on the board of Trustees of Penland School of Crafts and is a former board member of The Enamelist Society, having chaired two of their international conferences. Awarded numerous research and teaching grants, Ms. Darty has also received the NC Board of Governor's Award for Teaching Excellence, the ECU Alumni Teaching excellence Award and ECU School of Art's Scholar Teacher Award. In 2003 she received The Lifetime Achievement Award from The Enamelist Society, an international organization, celebrating her work as both an enameling artist and a teacher. Professor Robert Ebendorf, an internationally recognized metalsmith and educator currently holds the title of Carol Grotnes Belk Distinguished Professor at East Carolina University. He received his BA and MFA from the University of Kansas and also received a Fullbright to study at the State School for Applied Arts and Crafts in Oslo, Norway. A founding member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths, Bob is represented in many worldwide collections including the Metropolitan Museum of New York, The Victoria and Albert Museum in England, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Mint Museum of Craft-Design in Charlotte, NC.
Assistant Professor Timothy Lazure, Tim Lazure is an assistant professor in the Metals Design program at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. He received his BFA at Rochester Institute of Technology and his MFA at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. Tim shows his work in both national and international exhibits. He has pieces in the permanent collections of the Mint Museum of Craft and Design in Charlotte, NC, and in the Gallery of Art and Design in Raleigh, NC. His work includes jewelry, silversmithing and furniture.
