The photography concentration provides an environment that nourishes creative thinking and visual expression. Courses are designed to foster excellence and encourage individuality, diversity, vitality and freedom of thought. The program promotes the development of craft in service to visual literacy while establishing a critical discourse.
Experiences with traditional as well as digital media help prepare students to adapt to changing career opportunities. Students gain mastery of the materials, equipment and processes of photography, including cameras (digital and analog), film, lighting, digital technologies, wet process and digital printing, and non silver materials.
A functional knowledge of photographic history and theory, the relationship of photography to visiaul disciplines and its influence on culture will be emphasized throughout the coursework.
