ECU/LOESSIN PLAYHOUSE – 2009-10 SEASON
The Playhouse 2009-10 season will open in McGinnis Theatre with Arthur Miller’s brilliant and powerful drama, The Crucible (Oct. 1-6), set against the background of the infamous Salem witchcraft trials in the Massachusetts Bay colony. Next will be the rollicking, dance-filled musical, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Nov 19-24). Closing out the fall semester will be our Holiday Gift for Friends revue in the Studio Theatre (Dec 5). First up on the main-stage in spring semester will be the always beautiful and stirring DANCE 2010 (Jan 28-Feb 2), featuring new choreographic works and reconstructions by our dance faculty and guest artists. Then comes Woody Allen’s hilarious comedy, Play It Again, Sam (Feb 25-Jan 2), followed by Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party, a high-energy musical fraught with sex, violence, booze and jazz, set in New York in the Roaring Twenties, “hot as a two-dollar pistol”. The final main-stage event of the academic year will be the annual Scholarship Gala Performance revue on Saturday, April 24.
