Announcing the new 2008-09 ECU/Loessin Playhouse season:
The Playhouse 2008-09 season will open with George and Ira Gershwin’s brilliant, Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Of Thee I Sing (Oct. 2-7), one of the funniest and most-tuneful musicals ever wrought and an uproarious spoof on presidential election politics. Next comes the The Imaginary Invalid, a comedy by Moliére in a raucous and risqué new adaptation (Nov. 20-25); then Bat Boy, a contemporary musical, on Feb. 12-17; then William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy All’s Well That Ends Well (April 2-7), and the always beautiful and stirring Dance Theatre’s DANCE ’09 (April 23-28).
Auditions for Of Thee I Sing will be held in the Archie Burnette Studio Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday, August 20-21, with call-backs on the following two days. All students, faculty and community-based actors-singers-dancers are welcome and encouraged to participate. Auditions for subsequent productions will be posted as appropriate.
Congratulations:
KUDOS and salutations to Howell Binkley, ECU Theatre Alumnus and Tony-Award winning, internationally-renowned lighting designer, for his latest nomination for another Tony for “Best Lighting Design for a Musical” for In the Heights.
