Cybele is the instructor for classes in costume as well as the resident costume designer for ECU mainstage theatre and dance productions. As a costume designer she has worked on more than 60 productions in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Her designs have been seen onstage at the La MaMa Theater, the Steppenwolf Garage, Remy Bumppo, Shattered Globe, Collaboraction and Timeline Theaters as well as CalArts and Redcat. Designs for dance include work with choreographers Reggie Wilson, Lar Lubovitch and Stephanie Nugent as well as Thodos Dance Chicago, Hedwig Dances and multiple dance faculty performances at the University of Illinois and Columbia College. Her designs have been honored with both an After Dark Award and a Joseph Jefferson nomination.
As a costume crafts supervisor and artisan, she has worked with regional theaters in Chicago and Los Angeles. Costume styling experience includes designs for a permanent installation at Disneyland.
Fine art exhibition experience work includes wearable textile art shown in galleries across the country as well as large-scale art installations of recycled materials.
She has taught costume design at CalArts as well as Austin Community College and has guest lectured at UCLA, USC, Cal State San Marcos, Columbia College, DePaul University and the University of Illinois. Additional teaching experience includes work with multiple youth and non-profit organizations in Chicago and Los Angeles. Cybele holds an MFA in theater/costume from the California Institute of the Arts and a BFA from Ohio University.
