Laughter and tears, drama and dance, music and romance...

ballet dancer...are the things you've come to expect when watching productions on the McGinnis stage. But, as with many things, there is so much more than meets the eye! When the lights go up at the ECU/Loessin Playhouse and Summer Theatre, they illuminate the performers, costumes, and scenery on stage. They also shine on the work of the many essential behind-the-scenes people such as the Friends of the School of Theatre and Dance.

Mission

The primary mission of the Friends is raising money for merit scholarships for students of the ECU School of Theatre and Dance. These scholarships are critical in two very important ways. First, they provide aid to gifted and talented students during their academic careers. Second, they support recruiting the best and brightest new students to the School; making ECU their first choice.

Involvement

Friends members also serve as an important support and advisory group for the School, the Playhouse, and Summer Theatre. They promote projects to increase community participation. They assist in the development of a regional audience. They create a welcoming environment for visiting guest artists. If you choose, you can be further involved by volunteering your time and talents to serve on the Board of Directors. You could assist with various committees such as Membership, Hospitality, the annual gala, or others. Some committees are year-round; others are active seasonally.
