The School of Theatre and Dance is part of the ECU College of Fine Arts & Communication's Italy Intensives study abroad program. Join us for a unique international education experience in Tuscany, birthplace of the Renaissance and one of the most culturally rich areas of the world.   Currently, we offer a semester long program that allows students to live and study in the medieval village of Certaldo, combining in-depth study with international travel in the heart of Tuscany. Students taking classes in the shorter summer sessions travel during a 3 week program, staying not only in Certaldo, but also Rome, Florence, Venice and Cinque Terre. The contribution of the ancient Greeks to theatre, dance, music, history, literature and architecture along with spectacular natural beauty make it a desirable destination for young artists.

Previously, the Greece study abroad program has visited numerous sites including Delphi, Athens, and Santorini, along with activities such as tours of the Acropolis, Plaka, and more. Students attend various seminars and performances as well.  

Dance majors are highly encouraged to enroll as there is much to explore about classical Greek aesthetics that have influenced and relate to dance in many ways.  For example, the research of folk dances and their origins on the mainland and islands would be a great topic for an independent study dance seminar.
